Modern or SciFi

It was overpoweringly white: the gleaming taps, smooth benches, glittering lino, fluorescent strip-lights. She carefully squeezed thirty-five centimeters cubed of red liquid from the pipette. The beaker sat on a hotplate on high heat, causing the blood to boil and evaporate almost instantly. Tipping the powdery remains onto a glass slide, she placed a cover slip and a drop of distilled water over it before sliding it under the microscope. Pressing her eye to the lense, she twisted the course focus wheel then fine focus wheel in turn, until she could clearly see what she had been hoping not to...

Possibly a drama about someone who has come down with an illness, or perhaps a science fiction thriller. It's up to you: tell us what you've writen.
