Ever feel lost for inspiration? Ever get the writer's block?
Ever sit staring at a blank page wishing you had somewhere to start?
Well I often found myself in this situation, unable to start from scratch. So I thought, there must be hundreds... thousands... millions of people in the same situation! What if there was somewhere you could get a beginning, a seed of a story, and could alter it, develop it, and basically finish it?
I tried Plinky.com, and still love it, but found that it wasn't giving me what I needed. Every now and then in turned up a gem of a creative writing challenge, but mostly its prompts were article-based and too open. I literally needed the start of a story to work from.
At other times, I found myself full of starting points when I didn't need them or particularly want them, so I decided to set this blog up. I would provide beginnings, starting points, inspiration, and other people could use them. In turn, other people could submit their beginnings.
I quickly found that it is much easier to write a good first paragraph if you are not tied down by continuing the story. You can really focus on grabbing the reader's attention as opposed to setting the scene for your story. Conversely, it is much easier to continue a story when you have a gripping opening.
